This evening, in Warsaw, the Equal Rights Trust will bring together participants at the 2017 Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Human Dimension Implementation Meeting to discuss the need for states in Central Asia to adopt comprehensive equality laws. Our event is being held alongside Europe’s largest annual human rights conference, which brings together government and non-government representatives from all 57 OSCE participating states to discuss states' commitment to democracy and human rights.

The Equal Rights Trust is delighted to invite you to the Bob Hepple Equality Award 2017 on Wednesday 4 October 2017. The Award recognises the outstanding contributions of proponents of equality, with a particular focus on those who promote the comprehensive approach to equality which drives our work at the Trust.

On Wednesday 7 September the Equal Rights Trust will take part in Advocates for International Development’s (A4ID) Rule of Law Knowledge Group to provide lawyers and others an introduction to statelessness as a conceptual tool and to highlight its connections with sustainable development and human rights.

Nationality laws in 27 countries prevent mothers from passing their nationality to their children on an equal basis with fathers. This discrimination results in a range of other significant human rights violations and suffering for individuals and families, contributing to myriad problems, including: statelessness; lack of access to public education, health care and other social services; child marriage; gender-based violence; unemployment and poverty.

On Friday 14 August the Equal Rights Trust launched In the Crosscurrents: Addressing Discrimination and Inequality in Ukraine. The report is the first time an in-depth analysis on discrimination felt by various groups across Ukraine has ever been undertaken, and it assesses how the recent conflict has exacerbated situations for these groups.
