Do you know of somebody who has made a significant contribution to combating discrimination or advancing equality, but who has not yet received the widespread recognition they deserve? If so, please nominate them for the fifth annual Bob Hepple Equality Award.
Established by the Equal Rights Trust in memory of the late Professor Sir Bob Hepple QC - champion of equality and non-discrimination, and Chair and then Honorary President of the Trust - the award celebrates those who have dedicated themselves to advancing equality, in particular recognising the achievements of those who promote the comprehensive approach to equality which Bob Hepple promoted, and which drives our work at the Trust. We seek to honour those whose work has not yet received the credit we feel it deserves.
Recent winners include Mamikon Hovsepyan of Pink Armenia, for his leadership on LGBT rights in Armenia (2017) and Shahla Ismayil of the Women’s Association for Rational Development who has pioneered legal reform on gender equality in Azerbaijan (2018).
This year, we would like to recognise someone who has driven coalition or movement building to advocate for equal rights. We are particularly interested in collaborations fostered between diverse groups and actors.
Submit a Nomination
If you know someone whose work is relevant to this year’s theme and has not yet been widely celebrated, we would be delighted to hear from you. We are keen to receive nominations for individuals from across the world.
To make a submission please email a bio and brief summary (one page maximum) to email@example.com explaining why the nominee is a worthy winner of the award. Some of the details that should be included are the awardee’s core achievements in the field of coalition or movement building, any challenges they have faced and how these were overcome, and, where relevant, key attributes.
The Deadline for submissions is 7 July 2019. Following the selection process, the winner will be announced in July 2019 and will be sponsored to attend an award ceremony in London in September. Should you have any questions on the award criteria, the theme or award ceremony, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
