Can you help us fight discrimination on #GivingTuesday?

It’s #GivingTuesday, the antidote to Black Friday and we are asking you to help us seek justice for victims of discrimination by donating to our #Campaign4Equality

Ensuring people can access legal advice and the courts to challenge discrimination is just one of the ways the Equal Rights Trust works to advance equality worldwide.

Your donation could help someone like Jane, just one of 4000 women we’ve helped as part of our work in Kenya. When we met Jane, she had been severely beaten by her in-laws, driven from her home and denied her land rights. Through our project, providing legal advice and support through a network of community based organisations, Jane was empowered to seek justice. Help us support more people like Jane. Donate to our #Campaign4Equality

Walking together Still not convinced? You can hear directly from Jane in our new film, Walking Together.

As well as ensuring free legal services for victims of discrimination – including women in Kenya, LGBT persons in Russia, and human rights defenders in Yemen – we are also developing strategic cases to enhance equality law.

Just this month in a landmark case, Moldova’s Constitutional Court has upheld important access to justice protections for more than 3000 persons with disabilities denied legal capacity. This was thanks to the hard work of our partner, Promo-LEX, with our assistance. We’re supporting ground-breaking equality litigation like this around the world, on issues ranging from domestic violence in Jordan to the rights of non-nationals in Thailand. Where necessary, we journey with claimants all the way to the regional or international courts and this year we have taken complaints to the European Court of Human Rights, the European Committee on Social Rights and the Committee for the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.

Our work is supported by grants from governments and foundations, who, for the most part, give us only 90% of the funding we need. They request that we find the extra 10%. So, if you give us £10, $50 or €100 today we can unlock 10 times that amount for our work.
