Zambia

Zambia is one of over 70 countries across the world which still consider same-sex sexual relations between men to be a crime. The Equal Rights Trust is working with Friends of Rainka, the LGBT organisation in Zambia, to combat discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. We are:
  • Advocating for the repeal of provisions criminalising same-sex conduct and for the introduction of anti-discrimination law;
  • Training Zambian human rights defenders on international standards in equality law and how to use advocacy and litigation to strengthen protection from discrimination;
  • Training and supporting civil society organisations to collect evidence of discrimination and producing a comprehensive report on discrimination and inequality.
