This is a report of a thematic Human Dimension seminar on the "Participation of Women in Public and Economic Life” that was held in Warsaw in 2003. The participants met in working groups to discuss specific themes. Some of the conclusions include calling for participation of men in the dialogue on equal participation of women, encouraging member states to get technical assistance from the ODIHR in order to make better use of the international human rights system for protection of women's rights, calling on member states to amend criminal laws to tackle trafficking effectively and consider allocating a fixed percentage of all public funds for the promotion of gender equality, working with media organizations to promote gender equality by raising awareness of the gender-bias and promoting affirmative action in employment, etc.
